NOVA film founded in 2000 by the internationally acclaimed actress and producer Dessy Tenekedjieva with Jewish origin, Bulgarian, Ukrainian and Greek. Born in Varna- the sea capital of Bulgaria, she was only fourteen years old when she made her film debut and she stared in more than 35 movies, including major international productions.
Since 2000 NOVA Film (and Dessy’s new label Black Sea film www.blackseafilm.eu) have produced over 200 art projects for the international market including Feature Films, Documentaries, Short films, TV Shows, Commercials, Music Videos & Albums.
Dessy’s multi-award winning movies and as an actress and a producer, were represented at the most acclaimed world cinema forums and festivals such as Cannes, Venice, Toronto, Berlin, Moscow, Kairo, Varshava, Saraevo, New York, Madrid, Rotterdam, Torino, Florida, Mexico.. As Maria Medici in the film Il Mеstiere Delle Armi, directed by the legendary Italian Ermanno Olmi, Dessy is the only Bulgarian actress representing her country at the Cannes Film Fest, with a lead role in a movie from the Official Golden Palm competition. This multi-awarded film receives 9 David di Donatello Awards, 3 Nastro d’Argento Prizes, a nomination for Palmed’Or, 3 European Film Awards, 2 Golden Globes Awards.
Dessy has just finished shooting The Wheels Of Heaven as a producer and one of the lead opposite Mickey Rourke, Gary Stretch and Geoff Bell. The film is helmed by the British director Ben Charles Edwards. One of Dessy’s latest film is Saving my Pig when she starred opposite Gerard Depardieu. Dessy can be seen in the lead in The Homecoming by Harold Pinter, Killer Rats, directed by Tibor Takach opposite Ron Perlman, Eyes of Crystal, directed by Eros Puglielli- Official Selection at Venice Film Festival; The Conscience Case, directed by Luigi Perelli…
Dessy Tenekedjieva produced and starred in some cult theater spectacles, like Three Sisters by Checkov, directed by Stoyan Kambarev ,The Master and Margarita by Michail Bulgakov, directed by Teddy Moskov, LUBOVNIKA.com, directed by Boiko Bogdanov presented at the most famous world theater festivals - Avignon, Edinburg, Moscow, Jerusalem, Zurich and others.
Dessy has a very successful career in music as well. She has produced and directed her videos which climbed to the top of the TV and radio charts, including MTV. She has released two music albums, Inside and Crazy Butterfly. The official acceptance of Bulgaria into the European Union was celebrated with a concert of Dessy and her band in the City Hall in Berlin. Deutsche Welle’s Euromaxx broadcasted an exclusive documentary about her work and carrier.

The Foundation is created in memory of the late famous theater director and Dessy’s husband Stoyan Kambarev. The chairmans of the Foundation are the King of Bulgaria HM Simeon II and the Presidents of Bulgaria Peter Stoyanov ( 1997- 2002) and Rossen Plevneliev (2012-2017). The main purpose of the Foundation is supporting young artists with unorthodox and original ideas. She established THE 355 FILM AWARD in 2019 to support young filmmakers and has produced numerous short movies.
Dessy was the official spokesperson of Jean- Paul Gaultier and Suzuki. She speaks five languages- English, Russian, French, Italian and Bulgarian. Sport is her favorite hobby. She has won numerous cups and awards in tennis tournaments, ski and auto rallies. She has trained as a gymnast and tennis player. She has won first places in regional and national mathematics competitons. Dessy Tenekedjieva is a Goodwill Ambassador for Youth for Human Rights International.
Based in London for the past 7 years where she established MOON FOX ltd. and SuperNOVA Art Foundation.
